Luxury Villas for Couples in Marrakech: 6 Private Picks

Luxury Villas for Couples in Marrakech: 6 Private Picks

The best luxury villas for couples in Marrakech

The best luxury villas for couples in Marrakech are the smaller houses: three to five bedrooms, a pool nobody else uses, a rooftop or terrace of your own, and staff who look after one house rather than a hotel. In our collection, six stand out for two people: La Mamounia Palace, Villa Beja, Villa les Olivades, Villa Eden Garden, Villa Avalanche and Al Maaden Villa.

This guide explains what a couple should look for in a luxury villa in Marrakech, what each of the six offers, what they cost, and when a bigger house makes sense.

You rent the whole house, so choose it for the right reasons

Villas in Marrakech are let as a whole property, at one rate per night. Two people pay the same as six would. That is the honest trade-off, and it changes how a couple should choose.

Bedroom count matters far less than it does for a family or a group. What matters is the part of the house you will actually use: the pool, the terrace, the main suite and the people looking after you.

So the question is not "how many does it sleep?" It is "which house has the one or two things we care about most?" For some couples that is a rooftop at sunset. For others it is a Jacuzzi in the bedroom, or staying in the centre of the city rather than outside it.

For two people, the bedrooms you will not use are not the point. The pool, the terrace and the main suite are.

What to look for in a villa for two

A pool that is yours alone. Every villa on this list is let to one party at a time, so the pool is never shared. If you are travelling in the cooler months, ask whether it can be heated.

A terrace or rooftop of your own. Many Marrakech houses are built around an inner courtyard, with the best views from the roof. A private terrace off the bedroom is the detail that makes a large house feel like a place for two.

A main suite worth the money. Look for an en-suite bathroom, a dressing room and a door onto the garden or a terrace.

Who else is on the land. Some houses have resident staff, others have a housekeeper who visits. Our guide, Luxury Private Villas: What Private Should Really Mean, covers the questions to ask so nothing is a surprise on arrival.

Six luxury villas for couples, one by one

La Mamounia Palace: a private riad inside a famous hotel

This is a 700 square metre private riad within the grounds of La Mamounia, the hotel that opened in 1929 and sits in 8.1 hectares of gardens. It is the only house on this list in the heart of the city rather than on its edge.

It has three bedrooms, each with its own dressing room, and three en-suite bathrooms with both a bath and a walk-in shower. Outside, there is a private pool, a sun terrace and a rooftop lounge that looks over the hotel's gardens. It is listed from £8,000 a night.

Villa Beja: the Palmeraie, with an infinity pool

Villa Beja has five suites on a 10,000 square metre plot in the Palmeraie, the palm groves on the edge of the city. Its design draws on the Yves Saint Laurent museum in Marrakech.

The infinity pool is the centrepiece. There is also a gym finished in mosaic and a curated wine collection. Housekeeping is included, and full board can be added for €60 per person. It is listed from £2,300 a night.

Villa les Olivades: a private terrace off every bedroom

On the Amizmiz road, Villa les Olivades has five bedrooms. Each has air conditioning, a safe, a desk, a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom with an Italian shower and double sinks, and each opens onto its own private terrace.

For days when you do not want to leave, there is a pool, a tennis court, a Moroccan sauna and a private gym. It is listed from £2,000 a night.

Villa Eden Garden: a rooftop garden above the olive groves

Villa Eden Garden is a contemporary house on one hectare off the Ourika road, a few minutes from the city. Its best feature is a rooftop garden with views over olive groves, the nearby desert and the peaks of the Atlas mountains.

It has five bedrooms and a pool, in a setting chosen for quiet. It is listed from £1,800 a night.

Villa Avalanche: a Jacuzzi in every suite

Villa Avalanche is on the Amizmiz road, about 12 minutes' drive from Menara Airport and 15 minutes from the city centre. That short transfer suits a long weekend.

Each of its five suites has a private Jacuzzi. The pool can be heated, so it works outside the summer months too. It is listed from £1,450 a night.

Al Maaden Villa: a rooftop solarium at the lowest rate on this list

Al Maaden Villa has 700 square metres of living space and four bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and a view of the garden and pool. There is a patio with a fireplace for evenings in.

The rooftop terrace has a solarium and its own bar-kitchen. Daily housekeeping is included. At £770 a night, it is the most affordable house on this list.

Pick the smallest house that has the one thing you care about most. That is the whole method.

Travelling with other couples

Two or three couples sharing changes the maths. Villa Avalanche, at £1,450 a night, works out at about £483 per couple when three couples share. And with a Jacuzzi in every suite, nobody gets the lesser room.

For a larger group of couples, such as friends around a wedding or a big anniversary, Ksar Zaytoune Estate works differently from a normal villa. Its 20 pavilions are spread across a 14-hectare olive grove and joined by winding paths. Each has a bedroom with a dressing room, a terrace and a large bathroom, so every couple has a front door of their own. It sleeps 40 and is listed from £7,000 a night.

What a luxury villa for two costs

Across these six houses, rates run from £770 to £8,000 a night for the whole property. The price follows size, finish and location, not privacy. Every house here is let to one party at a time.

Before you travel

On a British passport you do not need a visa for a short holiday. GOV.UK's entry requirements for Morocco say you can visit for up to 90 days for tourism, and your passport must be valid for at least three months after the date you arrive.

For an overview of the city before you go, Morocco's official tourism site has a guide to Marrakech.

Which Marrakech villa is best for a couple?

It depends on what you want most. La Mamounia Palace suits couples who want to stay in the centre of the city. Villa Avalanche suits a short break, with a quick airport transfer and a Jacuzzi in the suite. Villa Eden Garden and Villa Beja suit couples who want space and quiet outside town.

Can a couple rent a whole villa in Marrakech?

Yes. Villas are let as a whole property at one nightly rate, whether two people stay or ten. Everything on the land is yours for the stay, including the pool.

How much is a luxury villa for two in Marrakech?

In our collection, the six houses above are listed from £770 to £8,000 a night for the whole property. Al Maaden Villa is the most affordable; La Mamounia Palace is the most expensive.

Do luxury villas in Marrakech have private pools?

All six villas in this guide have a pool, and because each house is let to one party at a time, it is never shared. Villa Avalanche's pool can be heated.

Do British couples need a visa for Morocco?

No, not for a holiday. GOV.UK says British citizens can visit for up to 90 days for tourism without a visa, with a passport valid for at least three months after arrival.
